INNOVATING TO DECARBONIZE OUR FUTURE TM services through Noventa’s WASTEWATER ENERGY TRANSFER (WET)™ systems

Right below the ground, running through the sewers, is a hidden and seldom used source of energy: domestic or municipal wastewater with a temperature of 60°F–70°F or 15°C – 20°C all year round. Depending on the sewer characteristics, the constant supply of wastewater can be an ideal energy source for both heating and cooling buildings or industrial processes.

Using  patented HUBER ThermWin® technology, Noventa’s WASTEWATER ENERGY TRANSFER™ (WET™) systems, are reimagining how buildings are heated and cooled. Either by extracting thermal energy from the sewer to supply heating in the winter or rejecting heat to the sewer to provide cooling in the summer. High coefficients of performance, or COPs, are achieved using Trane heat pumps in combination with patented HUBER ThermWin® technology in our WET™ systems. Gas and electricity consumption is significantly reduced, providing meaningful environmental as well as financial benefits for the end users and the community as a whole.

The HUBER RoWin® Heat Exchanger – the key component of the HUBER ThermWin® System – has been specifically developed to extract the enormous energy potential hidden in wastewater and other difficult media. It is the product of over 100 years of HUBER ingenuity and experience dealing with the corrosive elements of sewage – and it is exclusively licensed to Noventa.

Noventa’s WASTEWATER ENERGY TRANSFERTM (WETTM) services include leasing of green energy products such as wastewater screen and auger assembly located in a wetwell used to screen solids and remove sludge from the wastewater, heat exchangers that facilitate the transfer of thermal energy between wastewater with solids screened and sludge removed and HVAC systems to provide low-carbon heating and cooling for buildings and industrial processes. The WETTM services provide for the leasing of heat exchangers and ancillary equipment that are used to exchange thermal energy between a portable water supply and a condenser water loop to increase the amount of cooling that can be supplied to a building from the HUBER ThermWin® system. These WETTM leasing services extend to leasing of energy storage units that store electricity as high grade heat, which can then be converted to low grade heat to provide heating to a building or converted to steam and used to power a chiller to provide cooling to a building.
