Residential Clean Energy - Philadelphia, PA

The Clean Energy Residential System consists of two air-source heat pumps that act as the primary source of heating and cooling, combined with a domestic hot water (“DHW”) tank heated by a water source heat pump to replace the existing natural gas DHW tank. To provide additional backup and capacity, a hot water storage tank has also been installed to provide space heating during high demand periods. To manage the operations of the new HVAC system, Noventa has deployed the proprietary Smart Dual Fuel Switching (“SDFS”) software developed by Ryerson University and licensed to Noventa. The  SDFS software will optimize performance and reduce operating costs of the hybrid heating system, by continuously monitoring utility rates and automatically switching between the new heat pump system and the existing gas system.

To accommodate the increase in electrical consumption, a solar PV array has been installed on the roof of the 3-1/2  story residence. A battery storage system will be included to provide resiliency to the system in the event of a power failure. The home will be net metered, with all excess electricity being back fed into the electrical grid.

Noventa’s first Clean Energy Residential System will reduce the homeowner’s gas and electricity bill by approximately $970 per year and reduce GHG emissions by 10,460 lbs (4,740 kg) each year.  This renewable energy project serves as a testament to what can be achieved if we really start REIMAGINING ENERGYTM services and aggregating green technologies to develop low carbon and new renewable energy projects, products and services.

The project will be operated and managed by Noventa remotely and data will be collected to support our ongoing research and development of technology in the field of renewable energy involving the aggregation of products, technologies and services in the field of green technologies to develop low carbon and new renewable energy projects, products, and services.
