Kelvin Thermal Energy

Kelvin Thermal Energy’s proprietary Thermal Energy Matrix Storage (“TEMS”) technology converts inexpensive off-peak or renewable electricity into CleanHeat at 95% efficiency. Kelvin TEMS provides an alternate, parallel source of high-temperature thermal energy to boilers and generators and increases the operating efficiency by enabling steady state operations.

Kelvin’s TEMS can be applied to virtually any process that combusts fossil fuel in order to produce thermal energy.

Noventa is proud to have played an early and instrumental role in Kelvin’s commercial development efforts and we are pleased to be a strategic development partner with certain exclusive distribution rights in the US and Canada. Kelvin Energy is leveraging Noventa’s deep roots in the district energy sector and working with Noventa’s highly specialized engineering team to engineer and develop customized energy solutions that support district energy applications.

With the Kelvin TEMS system, Noventa provides REIMAGINING ENERGYTM services by storing otherwise wasted electricity to provide heating and cooling to buildings when needed.  While many battery storage technologies already exist, Kelvin TEMS is unique in that it can be used to provide heating.  The benefits for district energy and campus systems can be quite significant when this technology is aggregated with other green technologies, products and services to develop low carbon and new renewable energy projects.

Perhaps the most important benefit that the Kelvin TEMS system can provide for district energy is the avoidance of significant capital investment to convert old steam systems to more efficient hot water systems.  With relatively small investments in this innovative technology, a district energy operator can significantly improve the efficiency of their steam system.
